Three clients. Three very different visions. One design that delivered for all of them. 🏠
The Newhaven has been the foundation for some of our favourite builds — rural retreats, downsizer homes, off-grid barn houses on exposed hillsides. Each project started from the same design footprint. Each one finished as something completely its own.
Here's a closer look at the Newhaven, and three projects that show what it can become...
About the Newhaven Range
The Newhaven range comprises two designs: the Newhaven 19 and the Newhaven 21. Both are three-bedroom, two-bathroom homes built across three modules — sharing the same architectural DNA of a private master wing, a light-filled central living zone, and generous proportions throughout. The difference between them is simply scale.
Additionally, both designs are available in three facade styles:
• Cubehaus
• Skillion
• Modern Gable — our most popular, and the facade featured in every project in this article.
To view visuals of the alternative facade types available, click on the two design links above and review each design's gallery.
1. Newhaven 19
Bed: 3 • Bath: 2 • Modules: 3 • Area: 179.1m²
A beautifully resolved home that lives larger than its footprint suggests. The master wing with ensuite, walk-in robe and retreat sit apart from the secondary bedrooms for genuine privacy. The kitchen features a large walk-in pantry, and optional full-length front and rear decking makes indoor-outdoor living effortless.

2. Newhaven 21
Bed: 3 • Bath: 2 • Modules: 3 • Area: 197.4m²
The larger of the two, the Newhaven 21 adds a third living space, a rumpus room within the secondary bedroom wing, that adapts to whatever your household needs it to be. The additional depth also creates a clearer separation between shared and private zones, giving the home a more considered spatial hierarchy.

Project #1: Arawata, VIC
Design: Newhaven 21 (Modified) • Bed: 3 • Bath: 2 • Area: 207m²
At the beginning of their build journey for The Arawata Project , our clients had architectural plans drawn up for their South Gippsland property by an external architect, but post-COVID construction costs made building that original design with a traditional construction method unviable. When a friend recommended Anchor Homes, we reviewed the plans and found a way to carry the design intent forward. We achieved this by reinterpreting the original design through modifying our Newhaven 21 design to suit, as the layouts had similarities to start with.
The result is a U-shaped home where the living zone anchors the western end, positioned to capture sweeping countryside views through oversized glazing. The bedrooms sit across the central and eastern modules, quietly separate from the shared life of the home.
"I did not expect to be able to have a home that has the look and feel of what we originally had wanted...If someone asks us if they wanted to build with Anchor, we would definitely recommend them." — Arawata Project Clients

Project #2: Cranbourne South, VIC

Design: Newhaven 19 (Modified, with Garage) • Bed: 3 • Bath: 2 • Area: 181m²
The Newhaven design isn't just suited to farms or acreage style properties, it can also be the perfect fit for a suburban style home. The Cranbourne South Project is proof that the design works just as well in a suburban context.
Our clients, Sue and David, came to Anchor Homes wanting to downsize onto the same block as their family, without compromising on the quality or character of their home. The Newhaven 19 design caught their attention immediately.
"The Newhaven house, or homestead that we have, was what really brought us to Anchor in a big way."
— Sue & David, Cranbourne South
They worked with our team to make modifications that best suited their needs. For example, the added garage gave them the everyday practicality they were looking for suburban living. They also opted for the popular Modern Gable facade, which gave the home an architectural presence that holds its own on the street - ideal curb appeal!
Project #3: Tarrengower, VIC
Design: Newhaven 21 (Modified) • Bed: 3 • Bath: 2 • Area: 206m²
Set just outside of Daylesford in central Victoria, The Tarrengower Project showcases how perfectly our Newhaven design can look on a rural acerage property. Our clients wanted to a build a new home that captured contemporary barn-style architecture that perfectly suited its surroundings.
The Modern Gable facade delivers the desired structure: tall raked ceilings, strong geometry, a barn-like silhouette. The material choices do the softening. Vertical Weathertex Weathergroove cladding in Monument gives the facade a sleek look, while spotted gum timber on the underside of the eaves and surrounding the gable windows introduces warmth exactly where the eye is drawn.

These projects show what's possible when our pre-designed floorplans are adapted to suit a specific block, a specific brief, and a specific way of life. Each client came with a specific vision that needed the right home to match, and we worked with them to realise it could be achieved through the Newhaven 19 or Newhaven 21.
